Mental Load. It is something many of us carry on the daily. Between working, wherever you live, and other outside factors, so many of us have SO much on our plate (especially moms).

Per ChatGPT, this is the definition of a mompreneur's mental load: "The mental load for a mompreneur refers to the often invisible and continuous cognitive effort required to manage both the demands of running a business and the responsibilities of family and household life. It includes the mental work of organizing, planning, and remembering tasks, such as scheduling meetings, managing finances, keeping track of children’s activities, meal planning, and maintaining a household."

What is the breakdown? Two things:

  1. Family Responsibilities
  2. Business Responsibilities

I'd argue a 3rd to say house responsibilities since many moms tend to manage their homes and what is expected of them to keep.

Here are SOME of my thoughts in each of these breakdowns to help you slightly understand what goes on in my brain on a day to day basis:

Family Responsibilities

  • Does the baby need a diaper change?
  • When was the baby fed last?
  • Do we have boiled water for the Baby Brezza Keurig?
  • Is formula added on top?
  • Is the baby brezza cleaned?
  • Do we need more diapers?
  • Do we need more formula?
  • What do I need to restock (i.e. diapers, formula, any supplies, baby soap, wipes, etc.)
  • When are doctors appointments?
  • Maintaining the calendar of when people come and go
  • Booking a babysitter if I have a last minute meeting

House Responsibilities:

  • When were the dishes done?
  • Do we need food?
  • Do I have enough soap, paper towels, toilet paper?
  • Do I need to do a load of laundry?
  • Do I have laundry detergent?
  • Does the dog need a walk?
  • When is the last time I cleaned the sheets?
  • Do we have food in the freezer to eat?
  • Taking out the garbage
  • Did I feed the dog?

Business Responsibilities:

  • Is it payday to pay my contractors?
  • Did I respond to my clients email?
  • Did I send a proposal I was going to send?
  • My list of clean ups that I am working on
  • Schedule any calls that needed to be done
  • Sending Loom videos to send to my team
  • Looking at the board on Keeper if we are missing/pending any items
  • Helping my clients in any situation they might be in

Again, these are SOME of the things I think about on a day to day basis, this just scratches the surface. But I wanted to share a BRIEF list for people to understand what many mom's think about when they balance their business, their baby, and their home. What are some of your thoughts that you think about?
